BACKGROUND
My dad always worked in the photographic industry so I was introduced to photography at an early age. His work took us all as a family out to Abidjan, Ivory Coast where we lived for several years - such an incredible experience that helped shape my love of travel & photography. When we returned to the UK he had a photo processing lab & gallery in Stockport, where I would spend hours in the dark-room learning about developing & printing. I was literally surrounded by rolls of film, manual cameras & the smell of developing chemicals & from then on I was hooked and always taking pictures! My early inspirations were from poster catalogues & big coffee table photo books that were dotted around the gallery. We sold prints by all the great photographers - my favourites were Richard Avedon, Bob Carlos Clark, Terry O'Neill and Herb Ritts.
Across an ever-changing photographic landscape, one thing has remained constant throughout and that is my love for capturing candid and spontaneous moments - the frames within the frames - as they feel so much more authentic and full of life!
I will always love this 'job' as it has never felt like work, being able to turn a hobby into a career is something I will ever be forever greatful for.
THE REASON
Trying to balance shoot life with family life is always tricky and something I have never properly managed since having kids but whenever we get a few days spare we try to get away in Fred the Red our production van as there is always a great location to reccy in the UK, France or Italy.
